Highlight - Trip to Vatican City to visit the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, then to ancient Rome to visit the Forum, the Colosseum, Circus Maximus, and maybe the Catacombs.

Highlight - Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Cathedral in the Square of Miracles, drive along the Ligrian coast, see the Carrara Marble quarries where Michelangelo chose stones for his great sculptures, passing Genoa (birthplace of Columbus), into the Alps, in Turin to see the Antonelliana Building and the Piazza San Carlo.

Highlight - See Murano glassblowing workshops, hoping to take a cruise to the fisherman's island of Burano.

Highlight - Visit medieval city of Ferrara, Tuscany, and Renaissance Florence from views across the city to then enter the ancient centre of the city to visit the Basilica of Santa Croce and the Duomo. Big Tuscany dinner tonight.

Day 11-13 (Sun - Tues April 18-20): Say good-bye to most of the tour group for a 6:35am flight out of Rome; 7 of us will stay in Rome 3 more days to navigate the city on our own.
Highlight - We're still discussing this and we will see what we did not see in our first 1 1/2 on this tour. I hope to go to mass in the Vatican. We're thinking about seeing the locations (and art)mentioned in Angels and Demons. We plan to do a lot of walking.

Day 14 (Wed April 21): Fly home at 6:35am from Rome on Delta 9447 Operated by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, arrive in Amsterdam at 9:05am, leaves at 10:50am on Delta 243 and arrives at 1:30pm in Detroit where we will love the American soil at our feet.
